Educational Opportunities at IPSS

The Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity provides clinical training and educational seminars in psychoanalysis through various courses of study ranging from formal training programs, to four week mini-courses, to evening and weekend seminars.

For the curious, IPSS provides "Psychoanalytic Explorations at IPSS," a series of presentations and group discussions scheduled throughout the academic year.

For those professionals seeking a bit more in-depth study, IPSS faculty offer a One Year Introduction to Psychoanalytic Self Psychology and Intersubjectivity Theory for Professionals (Prior to Psychoanalytic Training).

Clinicians ready to pursue a Certificate in Psychoanalysis will find a comprehensive four-year program that includes clinical supervision, scholarly writing, and a personal analysis in addition to an unmatched curriculum.

Psychoanalysts who have already completed a Certificate in Psychoanalysis but wish to fruther their training with the IPSS faculty can enroll in the One-Year Post Graduate Program in Psychoanalysis.

Certificate Program in Psychoanalysis

A traditional, 4-year program leading to a Certificate in Psychoanalyis that requires completion of coursework, a personal analysis, clinical supervision, and a graduation thesis.

Post Graduate Program in Psychoanalysis

A 1-year program for clinicians who have already been awarded a Certificate in Psychoanalysis but wish to further their studies at IPSS.

One Year Program for Professionals

A series of Continuing Education courses taught by IPSS faculty, designed for clinicians who wish to expose themselves to the expertise of the Institute and specific topic without the commitment of a longer course of study.

Psychoanalytic Explorations at IPSS

A series of presentations and group discussions led by IPSS faculty and candidates, designed for clinicians who wish to experience the IPSS educational environment in the context of a 90 minute clinical or theoretical presentation and open discussion.

Distance Learning at IPSS

A 1-year program via Skype designed for groups of 4 or more students who are located in one place, outside NYC. Classes combine theory--with a focus on contemporary self psychology, infant research and intersubjectivity theory--with clinical case seminars.
