The Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity (IPSS) was founded in 1987 as an organization of psychoanalytic clinicians and scholars commited to a program that offers clinical training and a broad theoretical background. Founding Faculty are: George Atwood, PhD, Beatrice Beebe, PhD, Bernard Brandchaft, MD, James Fosshage, PhD, Frank Lachmann, PhD, and Robert Stolorow, PhD. The IPSS faculty, in addition to offering traditional psychoanalytic courses, has particular expertise and interest in contemporary self psychology, intersubjective systems theory, infant research, and relational psychoanalysis.
